Multidisciplinary Photographer, Educator and Grief Doula working in NYC.
Rooted in the language of photography, but expanded through collage, I am obsessed with the paradox of love and loss, with natural life transitions, and with the entwined states of grief and healing. My work is both practice and ritual, led by intuition. Through small, intimate acts of making, my work operates as quiet exchanges; secrets shared between dear friends. They ask for closeness, for slowness, and for a willingness to engage.
Loss has shaped the architecture of my life and practice. My best friend Paola Sciarrillo died from Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in our early twenties, an event that permanently altered how I love, forgive, and understand purpose. Art-making became a form of survival and renewal. Motherhood furthered my awareness of how poorly we are taught to live with loss and transition. In 2018, I began training as a Grief Doula, a path that unfolded into workshops using Alan Wolfelt’s companioning model. These roles as artist, educator, and grief doula are inseparable in my work.
I’m also the founder of Art.Heals.Grief™, an arts-based methodology that supports people in mourning on purpose through art making, ritual, and compassionate companioning. Discover more at arthealsgrief.com
